Testimonials
We asked some of our colleagues how they had found working with Powerful Information over the years. This is what they said:
Jonathan Conteh welcoming people to a ceremony in Makeni (in Dec 06) to present certificates to the blind men and women who had just compeleted VFB's first skills training course. Jonathan has been blind since birth.
"I have learnt many things over the years from our partnership with PI, not least how to prepare proposals and reports, and monitor and evaluate projects. Indeed, the dawn to dusk work with Mike during his monitoring visits has made me stronger and more productive myself. Powerful Information helped us get our first ever grant, some four years ago, and we haven’t looked back. The partnership has brought hope to hundreds of blind people in Sierra Leone and we pray it will continue." Jonathan Conteh, Executive Director
“We have a very long and good cooperation with Powerful Information and it is proven through the diverse range of projects we have run together from 2002 until now. Cooperation with Mike is very beneficial for training teachers and with his help we succeeded to enlarge our knowledge and also cooperation within the country and outside.” Anisoara Vrinceanu, Principal
“We are very glad that we are the subject of your interest as a community, as a school, and as individuals. It is the first time we had the chance to be beneficiaries of such an organisation as Powerful Information which has facilitated our way to funders. When you told us that the proposal we wrote was not really appropriate for funders we lost hope. The fact that we are now getting a new well in the village, and another three wells rehabilitated, is entirely due to you, because you are very meticulous but at the same time you try to understand us and our situation. We don’t see you as foreign bosses, rather as partners that are doing things with us and for us that we have not done before.” Svetlana Burlacu, Teacher
Ioana in front of the Primaria in Bestemac.
“Your visits have had a huge impact on local public awareness of people’s impact on water quality in the village and the importance of proper management of waste. We like a lot, and it was extremely useful, the exchange programme we have done with other villages. We are very satisfied about the cooperation because Powerful Information is punctual and comes with very concrete demands - and you don’t make promises that you can’t fulfil. We are going to do our best to do the same even if this is very difficult in our culture and we will try not to disappoint you.” Ioana Racila, Mayor of Bestemac
Unsolicited FeedbackWe recently received the following note from another British charity which we have worked with on rural development projects in Albania. It reads as follows: LESSONS FROM OTHERS Describe the one thing that the project learnt from others. How was the project influenced and by whom? Please be as specific as possible and state whether or not this would be relevant for others, if so whom? "During this project, we enlisted the collaboration of another UK-based organisation, Powerful Information. The director of Powerful Information joined two field missions at the project’s expense, and the partners learned useful lessons from him on how best to involve young people and schools in projects, and how to make good use of database software for recording, analysing and reviewing project and beneficiary information. We think it can be helpful to work in partnership and in collaboration with a range of individuals and organisations during the course of a project, in line with changing input needs." (Jun 10)
